Who I am
This website belongs to James Jackson, based in London. I'm responsible for the personal details collected through it.
What I collect
What you choose to send me through the "Message me" form: your name, your email address, the topic you pick and your message. When you send it, my hosting provider also records your IP address, your browser type and the page you sent it from, which helps block spam. Like any web host, it also keeps short technical logs of visitors' IP addresses.
The site has no accounts and sets no cookies. I count visits with GoatCounter, which records the page viewed, the referring site, browser, screen size and country, but not your IP address or anything that identifies you.
Why I use it
To read your message and reply to you. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in answering messages people send me. I won't add you to a mailing list or pass your details to anyone to market to you.
Who else handles it
- Netlify hosts this website, receives the form when you send it and filters it for spam.
- Google provides my email, which is how your message reaches me.
- GoatCounter counts visits to the site, without cookies or personal data.
- Google Fonts supplies the fonts, so your browser shares your IP address with Google when the page loads.
These companies act on my behalf and may process data outside the UK, under the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
How long I keep it
As long as I need it to reply and follow up. I delete messages from the form system within 12 months.
Your rights
You can ask to see the details I hold about you, have them corrected or deleted, or object to how I use them. Send your request through the form on the home page. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If anything changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
